The Short Version
🍷 We never store your photos.
When you send Paco a wine label, wine list, or screenshot, the image is analyzed and then discarded. We keep only the wine information extracted from it, along with a one-way hash used for de-duplication.
🍷 We collect only the information needed to run Paco.
This includes your account details, wine preferences, messages, and Paco’s recommendations.
🍷 We do not sell your personal information.
1. Information We Collect
Account Information
When you sign in with Google, we receive:
- Name
- Email address
- Profile photo
We use this information to create and secure your account.
Wine Preferences
You may tell Paco about:
- Favorite wine styles
- Preferred regions
- Budget ranges
- Other tasting preferences
We use these preferences to personalize recommendations.
Messaging Information
When you connect Telegram, WhatsApp, or another messaging platform, we store the platform-specific identifier needed to link conversations to your account and deliver responses.
Scans and Conversations
When you send Paco a photo or message, we may store:
- Wine information extracted from the image or text (such as producer, wine name, vintage, region, price, and critic scores)
- Your messages
- Paco’s responses
- Timestamps and technical logs needed to operate the service
- A one-way cryptographic hash (SHA-256) of the image for de-duplication and analytics
We do not store the image itself.
Images are processed temporarily and discarded immediately after analysis.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Identify wines and generate recommendations
- Personalize suggestions to your tastes and occasions
- Support follow-up questions about previous scans
- Operate, maintain, and improve Paco
- Monitor performance and reliability
- Process subscriptions and payments
- Respond to support requests
3. How Your Photos Are Processed
To identify wines, Paco sends images to our AI providers for analysis.
The extracted wine information may then be used to look up:
- Reviews
- Critic scores
- Pricing information
- Vintage information
- Producer details
Your photo is not retained by Paco after processing.
We keep only the extracted wine information and technical records needed to provide the service.
4. Service Providers
We work with a small number of trusted providers to operate Paco.
These providers process data only as necessary to provide their services.
Current providers include:
- Supabase — authentication and database hosting
- Anthropic — AI image analysis and recommendation generation
- OpenAI — embeddings and search matching
- Google — account authentication
- Telegram and other messaging platforms you connect
- Vercel — application hosting
- Payment processors — subscription billing
We do not store your full payment card details.
5. Data Retention
We retain your account information and scan history while your account remains active so Paco can remember previous wines and conversations.
You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time.
Image hashes and aggregated wine analytics may be retained for operational and analytical purposes.
Our service providers may retain information according to their own privacy policies.
6. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to:
- Access your information
- Correct inaccurate information
- Export your data
- Delete your account and personal data
- Restrict or object to certain processing activities

7. Security
We use industry-standard security measures, including encryption in transit, access controls, and secure cloud infrastructure.
While no system can guarantee absolute security, our decision not to store your photos significantly reduces the amount of sensitive data retained.
8. Age Requirement
Paco is intended only for individuals who are of legal drinking age in their jurisdiction.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors.
9. International Data Transfers
Your information may be processed in countries other than your own.
Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time.
When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date above and provide additional notice where required.
